American Express - AMEX

How to Accept American Express (AMEX) Payments

American Express operates as an independent third-party card scheme separate from Visa and Mastercard. While Paystation processes transaction requests through your gateway, American Express handles all funds settlement directly to your bank account, and your merchant rates, clearing schedules, and American Express transaction fees are managed entirely under your direct contract with them. To accept AMEX card payments on your Paystation gateway, you must establish an active merchant facility directly with American Express.

Step 1: Apply for an AMEX Merchant Account

If you do not already have an AMEX merchant facility, submit an application directly with American Express.

Step 2: Obtain Your Merchant ID

Once approved, American Express will issue you a unique 10 digit AMEX Merchant ID.

What Happens Next?

Once AMEX provides your merchant ID, our support team will configure your Paystation account to route AMEX transactions. We will notify you as soon as the card option is live on your payment page.
